About this grant
PolicyWorks for Philanthropy is an initiative led by a consortium of six regional associations of grantmakers and managed by the Council of Michigan Foundations. The project’s goal is to build the capacity of regional associations’ staff and boards to engage policymakers in support of a vibrant and effective philanthropic sector. Since its launch in 2009, PolicyWorks has collected baseline data to confirm sufficient demand for the project; conducted an outreach campaign to recruit regional associations; and organized an awareness campaign targeting regional associations’ trustees and members promoting the value and benefits of proactively engaging policymakers. Grant funds will support the development and implementation of activities that will strengthen the capacity and catalyze increased action by 21 regional associations nationwide on public policies of interest to their members. The Council of Michigan Foundations is a membership association of grantmakers with the mission to enhance, improve, and increase philanthropy in Michigan.
