About this grant

Communities in the southeastern United States need reliable, cost-effective water supplies while also maintaining healthy river flows so that the region’s rich aquatic biodiversity is not put at risk. American Rivers, a national freshwater conservation organization with a strong presence in the region, will promote the adoption and implementation of policies that sustain river flows for human and ecological needs, advocate for water efficiency solutions, and encourage wise water use planning at the regional, state, and local levels. The grantee will concentrate its efforts in three states — Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina — working closely with regional, state, and local partner groups.
