About this grant

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan started in 1981 as a small grassroots community organization to distribute surplus food to those in need throughout Genesee County, as well as 21 other counties in eastern Michigan. The food bank solicits, stores, and distributes over 21 million pounds of food annually, either directly or through a network of more than 400 partner agencies which include soup kitchens, church pantries, homeless shelters, and other charities. This grant will enable the grantee to purchase additional high protein food items for distribution to Genesee County residents and buy another fork lift to assist with the growing amounts of food being handled in the warehouse.
