About this grant
Since its inception in 1983, the Shelter of Flint, Inc., has provided a critical safety net for homeless single women, women with children, and men with children. The shelter offers a comprehensive set of support programs and transition services that fulfill its mission of helping homeless individuals and families work toward permanent stability. Assistance includes: emergency shelter, transitional housing, support services, and outreach. This grant will increase the Shelter of Flint’s capacity to serve more clients by improving the literacy/GED program, implementing a new intake procedure, and providing improved access to existing community services.
