About this grant
A group of mayors and city managers helped establish the Michigan Suburbs Alliance in 2002 to unite and strengthen urban and surrounding older communities of southeast Michigan through innovative regional strategies and public policy reforms. The grantee has emerged as an important voice on issues affecting the fiscal, economic, and environmental health of metropolitan areas in Michigan. This grant will support the grantee’s efforts to reform transportation policies in southeast Michigan in a way that promotes equitable and ecologically sustainable outcomes. The grantee will accomplish this by providing technical assistance and training to municipal representatives and community groups, growing the network of engaged civic leaders, and researching sustainable transit-funding options.
