About this grant
This grant will provide support to the Genesee Area Focus Fund for the YouthQuest After School Initiative, formerly known as the Bridges to the Future Afterschool Program. The mission of YouthQuest is to provide children with opportunities to grow through a safe, engaging, and exciting afterschool learning experience, surrounded with caring, responsible adults and sustained by an involved, contributing community. YouthQuest’s program is designed to fulfill this mission through the following objectives: academics, technology, visual/performing arts, career preparation, life skills, recreation fitness/sport, family involvement, community involvement, and youth advisory councils. The afterschool program will operate on the school year calendar beginning approximately the third week of school. YouthQuest will also provide a six-week summer program in 2011. The Genesee Area Focus Fund, a supporting organization of the Genesee Area Focus Council and Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce, is a consortium of nonprofit, educational, and business leaders with a focus on economic development issues that affect the competitive economy and quality of life in Genesee County.
