About this grant

The program goal is to encourage the growth and effectiveness of diaspora philanthropy globally. Based on a long and successful track record in this field, the American Ireland Fund will produce a Global Diaspora Strategies Toolkit with practical examples on how to develop diaspora philanthropy programs. The toolkit will be a guide for governments, corporations, foundations, and individuals interested in developing programs in this area. Following the production of the toolkit, the grantee will work together with the U.S. State Department to organize a conference. The conference will focus on best practices in diaspora philanthropy and will highlight the work being done in this field throughout the world. The grantee is part of a global group of organizations called the Ireland Funds. Its mission is to be the largest worldwide network of people of Irish ancestry and friends of Ireland dedicated to raising funds to support programs of peace and reconciliation, arts and culture, education, and community development throughout Ireland.
