Virginia Statewide Afterschool Network

About this grant

This grant to Alternatives, Inc., will support the Virginia Statewide Afterschool Network to continue to build an afterschool and summer learning system that improves outcomes for children and youth through school-based or school-linked afterschool programs. Over the next three years, the network will support the development of policy, partnerships, and quality initiatives to benefit youth in afterschool programs. The network’s specific projects will: 1) create a sustainable structure of statewide, regional, and local partnerships, particularly school-community partnerships, to increase coordination and support for out-of-school time programs; 2) create a database of funders focused on out-of-school time, STEM, and resource data; and 3) create a professional development endorsement procedure for out-of-school time programs to adopt recommended quality models.
