About this grant

While the economic and environmental importance of Michigan’s water resources is widely recognized, the state’s lakes, rivers, and wetlands are under significant stress due to a combination of factors. The Michigan Environmental Council, a leading statewide environmental policy group based in Lansing, proposes a full range of activities to address the water quality and water quantity challenges facing the state, including effective implementation of the Great Lakes Compact, Clean Water Act, and related state policies. The grantee will also build its own organizational capacity through a variety of means, such as launching new fundraising initiatives for individual donors.
