About this grant
The Great Lakes are facing threats that include toxic algae blooms, excess nutrients, and other pollution. Lake Erie is plagued by increasingly frequent algae blooms, which threaten drinking water and fish, clog intake pipes, and deter visitors. To help address these issues, and secure long-lasting protection for the Great Lakes and Ontario’s source water, Environmental Defence Canada has used previous support from the Mott Foundation to work with community and government leaders, to advance Ontario and Canadian water protection policies and programs. With renewed support, the grantee will engage and educate stakeholders, and participate in opportunities to help ensure the health and restoration of the Great Lakes.
