About this grant

The Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy has been a leading legal and scientific voice for Minnesota’s environment since 1974. With previous Mott support, the grantee has advocated for the protection of Minnesota wetlands; worked to restore Lake Superior watersheds; sought to protect Lake Superior from invasive species; worked to improve access and affordability to clean, safe water in Minnesota; and sought to protect the Lake Superior watershed from threats from mining activities. With continued support, the grantee will advance efforts to protect Lake Superior from invasive species coming from ballast water discharges, ensure that solutions to drinking and wastewater infrastructure address affordability and protect against nitrate pollution, and protect against mining threats and reform mining laws to protect Lake Superior. Funding will also help to secure a consultant to guide an effort to improve their outreach and engagement with diverse constituencies.
