About this grant
In August 2010, the city of San Francisco launched the Kindergarten to College Evaluation program, a children’s savings account initiative that automatically opens college savings accounts for families when they enroll their children in a kindergarten class. By September 2012, 100 percent of the city’s kindergarten population will have such accounts. With implementation well under way, the Earned Asset Resource Network’s goal for the renewal grant period is to expand its ongoing study of the evaluation to other initiatives and leverage this information to promote children’s savings accounts across the country. The grantee will identify best practices for replication and disseminate those findings in ways that encourage other communities to implement children’s savings account initiatives in cities or at the state level. Based in San Francisco, Earned Asset Resource Network, Inc., is dedicated to helping low-income families and individuals break the cycle of poverty and create new cycles of prosperity.
