About this grant

The program goal is to strengthen the culture of philanthropy in Bulgaria. To this end, the Bulgarian School of Politics will promote strategic philanthropy among various actors in the field of philanthropy, strengthen the philanthropic practice of its alumni, and develop a resource center on philanthropy at the school. This project’s past achievements include organizing high profile public events on the role of philanthropy, publishing two books and a series of research papers on philanthropy, and increasing the level of giving among its trainees and alumni. The school was established in 2001 with the mission to build a community of civic and political leaders who share democratic values and participate actively in national and international political and public life. Since 2001, more than 500 Bulgarian and 180 Central and Eastern European leaders, including members of parliament, party leaders, and civic activists, have graduated from the school. The school is engaging its trainees in philanthropic initiatives as part of the trainees’ public policy development work.
