About this grant
The Village Information Center was established in 1976 and has published hundreds of issues of the “East Village Magazine”. “East Village Magazine” is a monthly nonprofit magazine written by and for Flint residents and nonprofit groups that focuses on issues directly affecting the quality of life in Flint neighborhoods. The magazine is distributed by volunteers throughout the city of Flint, reaching a reader base of about 12,000 people. In addition to publishing the magazine, the grantee trains its volunteers in professional writing and journalism and provides a literary outlet for city residents. This grant will provide the grantee with capacity building and some technological support.
