About this grant
This grant provides general purpose support to a national network of foundation grants managers. The Grants Managers Network improves grantmaking by advancing the knowledge, skills, and abilities of grants management professionals and by leading grantmakers to adopt and incorporate effective practices that benefit the philanthropic community. Currently, the network has 1,700 members from more than 1,000 grantmaking organizations who represent the breadth of the philanthropic community including small family foundations, prominent national foundations, grantmaking public charities, and socially responsible corporations. The network is supported by more than 200 grantmaking organizations that recognize its contribution to the field of philanthropy. Besides serving the needs of grants managers through online resources, publications, research, regional meetings, and an annual conference, in 2011, the grantee will, in partnership with the Technology Affinity Group of the Council on Foundations, update a much-needed field survey of grants management software.
