About this grant
The Philanthropy Bridge Foundation’s mission is to bridge class, cultural, and institutional divides between people in emerging market countries through engaging individuals and companies in proactive and responsible philanthropy. The grantee aims to engage new wealth in the East and South in strategic and transparent philanthropy to ensure that the incredible wealth, which is now becoming available in countries previously seen as beneficiaries of aid, is put to good use. The grantee also aims to build a bridge between new wealth and the nonprofit sector in emerging market countries to make nonprofits more sustainable and to increase their legitimacy in their countries. Planned activities include tailored initiatives to engage specific individuals in strategic philanthropy; meetings and conferences for wealthy individuals in Russia, China, Brazil, South Africa, and the Middle East; and workshops for public charities to improve their understanding of donors in emerging markets.
