About this grant
The Project for Conflict Resolution and Development works primarily in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa and focuses on training community-based organizations to deal effectively with conflict at the community level. It works mainly with poor communities that receive little or no support from other sources, including the state. The objective of this project is to assist community-based advice offices to effectively manage and resolve conflicts both within their institutions and on behalf of the communities they serve. The grantee will develop training materials and train and mentor community-based paralegals on mediation and dispute resolution. It will also offer hands-on support to paralegals on mediating community disputes when conflicts arise.
