About this grant

This grant will support the glass exhibits at the Flint Institute of Arts. The LINO TAGLIAPIETRA IN RETROSPECT: A Modern Renaissance in Italian Glass exhibit featured 169 objects ranging from large works and major installations to small goblets and vessels. Lino Tagliapietra is widely revered as the maestro of glassblowing, an inspiring teacher, and the elder statesman linking the glass centers of Venice and the Pacific Northwest. The TIFFANY LAMPS: Articles of Utility, Objects of Art exhibit included over 40 lamps in an array of colors, sizes, and decorative styles. This display presented the first in-depth look at the Tiffany Studios’ deliberate effort to produce lamps that balance artistry with utility and profitability. The exhibition opened on May 23, 2010, and ran through August 15, 2010.
