About this grant

The Desmond Tutu Peace Centre was founded by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and his wife, Leah, in 1998 to encourage and inspire future generations to commit themselves to work for world peace, facilitate dialogue and debate on topical issues in South Africa, create platforms for the voices of the marginalized to be heard, find peaceful ways of resolving conflict, and inspire leaders to choose peace over confrontation. This grant will support the grantee to implement its programs that include hosting an annual peace summit for youth, training teachers and high school students from violent neighborhoods around Cape Town on how to resolve conflict peacefully, hosting annual lectures celebrating the life of Archbishop Tutu, and holding public dialogues that address topical issues that broadly affect society.
