About this grant
The project goals are to encourage youth engagement in community development and stimulate local philanthropy in Turkey. The Community Volunteers Foundation supports the further development of YouthBank—a model for youth-led, community-based grantmaking—in Turkey. During the grant period, the grantee will focus on creating a model for the sustainability of YouthBanks in Turkey. Local YouthBank participants will be trained in identifying and working with local funders, and the grantee will create a special YouthBank fund that will manage locally raised funds and report to donors. At the same time, the grantee will continue to provide training and support to the local YouthBank practitioners and their local government and nonprofit sector partners in order to build their capacity for self-management. Based in Istanbul, the Community Volunteers Foundation was established in 2002 and is a national-level nonprofit working to increase youth activism through volunteerism.
