About this grant

The project goals are to promote constructive youth activism, provide civic education, and engage young people in the work of civil society organizations in Kosovo. With one of the youngest populations in Europe, Kosovo faces tremendous challenges related to high youth unemployment, a failing education system, rising violence in schools, and low levels of youth participation in decisionmaking processes. Through this project, the Initiative for Progress will share its experience and approaches in Ferizaj with young people in other towns and cities by establishing a Kosovo-wide School of Activism. In each of the two summers over the next 18 months, 330 high school and university students from across Kosovo will participate in two-week courses with a curriculum designed and taught by experts, academics, and experienced activists. The grantee is based in Ferizaj and has a project office in Prishtina.
