About this grant

This grant will support the second phase of a seven-year program to develop Mexican community foundations. The Inter-American Foundation manages a program that focuses on the 17 members of Comunalia, a network of Mexican community foundations. During the past four years, the program has supported the training of 40 emerging community foundation leaders, a challenge grant program that leveraged Mexican support for grassroots initiatives at a 3:1 ratio, and institutional strengthening of Comunalia and its members. Over the next three years, the grantee will continue to support the institutional strengthening of Comunalia and its members, a sub-grant challenge mechanism for community projects, and grants for applied research, donor engagement and education, and evaluation. The Inter-American Foundation is an independent United States government agency created by Congress in 1969 to channel development assistance directly to the organized poor in Latin America and the Caribbean.
