About this grant
Many business leaders and economists are calling for a retooling of the American economy, especially in older, industrial states such as Michigan. The Metropolitan Policy Program at the Brookings Institution, an internationally known think tank, is well-positioned to assist in the development and deployment of such a strategy for economic renewal. With prior support, the grantee helped prepare a metropolitan growth plan for Michigan that was quite well received. With continuing support, the grantee will help implement aspects of the growth strategy in Michigan while undertaking a full range of other work to promote the economic competitiveness of metropolitan areas domestically and globally. This will include original research, policy, tool development, and networking activities.
