About this grant
The program goal is to strengthen private, individual philanthropy in Bulgaria by providing institutional support to one of the first private foundations in Bulgaria, the Dimitar Berbatov Foundation. During the grant period, the grantee will recruit and train professional staff, strengthen its board, develop a new strategic program plan, and improve its communication and fundraising strategies. In addition, the grantee will develop partnerships with other Bulgarian individual philanthropists to promote philanthropy as a tool for social development. Also, the grantee will refurbish its offices and provide meeting space and administrative support to individual philanthropists that are considering initiating philanthropic activities or improving their philanthropic practice. The grantee’s key achievements to date include creating funding partnerships with a number of corporate donors in Bulgaria and running successful media campaigns targeting children’s health issues, as well as grantmaking programs focusing on sports and education for children and young people.
