About this grant

The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health, and Sports seeks to improve the health of Michigan residents. A nonprofit organization, the Michigan Fitness Foundation was created to implement the council’s mission. In accordance with its mission, the grantee has helped lead initiatives to modernize Michigan’s transportation systems. This grant will allow the grantee to help a statewide transportation collaborative understand and address the transportation needs of all Michigan residents, including the full spectrum of ages, physical abilities, socioeconomic levels, and racial/ethnic backgrounds. As part of this effort, the grantee will provide minigrants to encourage the engagement of leaders from diverse communities and support important, community-level transportation projects.
