About this grant
The newly established Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the New Development Bank could provide important financing for the vast infrastructure needs of developing countries. However, this financing will only be beneficial if those investments benefit local communities and do not negatively impact the environment. As a new actor in development finance, China can learn from the decades of experience of the existing international financial institutions, as well as establish new international standards for development finance lending and build environmental and social safeguards. This grant to Greenovation Hub will provide continued support for Chinese nongovernmental organizations to engage with the Chinese government on the need to shift Chinese investments to low-carbon green infrastructure and to account for environmental and social impacts.
