About this grant
This grant will provide support to the Urban Institute’s Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy. The center seeks to improve understanding of civil society and nonprofit sector performance by conducting rigorous research and analysis, developing data, and promoting dialogue on policy issues affecting nonprofits and philanthropy. This grant will support core activities of the center such as: updating, expanding, and providing access to the center’s National Nonprofit Data System; developing additional sites for the center’s community database platforms; supporting efforts to improve government data on nonprofits; developing trend data on the nonprofit sector; improving nonprofit data standards and methods; and enhancing the center’s communications via social media and Webinars. The Urban Institute is an independent think tank that gathers data, conducts research, evaluates programs, offers technical assistance overseas, and educates Americans on social and economic issues to foster sound public policy and effective government.
