About this grant

The Tax Policy and Charities Project aims to provide research and analysis to inform policymakers as they consider changes to the tax code that may affect nonprofit organizations. Project products include a Web site, conferences, and roundtable discussions on specific tax policy issues; broader use of existing data and improved data modeling and simulation capabilities for better analyses; and a series of research papers, policy briefs, articles, congressional testimony, and other material on major tax and charity issues. The project is implemented by two reputable policy centers that are part of the Urban Institute, the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center and the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy. The Urban Institute is a national think tank that gathers data, conducts research, evaluates programs, offers technical assistance overseas, and educates Americans on social and economic issues in order to foster sound public policy and effective government.
