About this grant

The program goal is to mobilize local communities in Ukraine to effectively address and resolve issues of common concern. General purpose support will assist the West-Ukrainian Resource Center to promote the development of civil society through the support of community, social, and economic initiatives. It will do this through a mix of grants and capacity building in the fields of rural community development, adult education, and social integration of migrants and internally displaced persons. In 2014-2016, the grantee worked with 41 communities in seven regions of Ukraine introducing models of community self-management to address challenges of local administrative reform. It also helped incubate community economic development bodies to foster local business growth as a means to assist with the integration of new categories of migrants. The West-Ukrainian Resource Center was founded in 1994 as a support organization for regional nongovernmental organizations and has since become a leading resource for community development practice in Ukraine.
