About this grant
The project goal is to encourage, empower, and enable young people in Turkey to be actively engaged in strengthening democratic values and bridging the country’s cultural, ethnic, and social divides. To this end, Anadolu Kultur will link young people in two cities (Diyarbakir and Batman) in the eastern, predominately Kurdish part of Turkey with young people in two cities (Canakkale and Izmir) in the western part of Turkey. Building on the grantee’s previous work in these cities, the project will provide training and support to groups of young people between the ages of 18 and 26 from each city to engage in collaborative photography and film projects aimed at telling stories about their lives, regions, and communities. Based in Istanbul but working extensively in eastern Turkey, Anadolu Kultur was established in 2002 with the mission of contributing to the development of a pluralist, open-minded society through improved cultural exchange and dialogue across Turkey’s diverse regions and communities.
