About this grant

The Southern African Community Grantmakers Leadership Forum is a membership organization of community grantmakers that promotes leadership development and peer learning among its members. It evolved from a project initiated by Synergos in 2005, the Southern African Community Grantmakers Leadership Cooperative. The grantee brings its members together in a knowledge-sharing partnership to strengthen social justice philanthropy in southern Africa. Its main objective is to enhance the growth, professionalism, and sustainability of community grantmakers in the region in order to maximize their social impact and benefit to the communities they serve. This grant will support the grantee to build stronger linkages between community grantmakers in the southern African region; maintain relations with governments and the private sector; provide a platform for reflection, dialogue, and leadership development; and partner with structures that have similar values to set the African agenda for community philanthropy.
