About this grant
The Great Lakes Compact, an interstate agreement, is intended to prevent the diversion of waters outside the basin and to effectively manage the use of water within the basin. Despite some recent positive signs, the Great Lakes states have been slow to implement the compact, including its water conservation and efficiency provisions. The Natural Resources Defense Council, a national organization with a strong regional presence, will provide tools and expertise at the regional and state levels to help implement the compact’s water conservation and efficiency elements.
