About this grant
The program goal is to increase youth involvement in local philanthropy development and civic action by strengthening the YouthBank movement in the Central and Eastern Europe and Russia region. YouthBank is a successful model for youth-led grantmaking and philanthropy. The Community Foundation for Northern Ireland will provide capacity-building services to national YouthBank movements in the region, facilitate dialogue and interaction among these movements, and support the institutionalization of YouthBank International as a support organization. Based in Belfast, the grantee has facilitated the growth and development of young people as fundraisers and grantmakers using the YouthBank model since 1999. In the past grant period, the grantee supported the development of YouthBanks in six new countries, developed Web-based learning resources, and organized a series of networking events for the national movements. Now, YouthBanks exist in 28 countries.
