About this grant
The program goal is to strengthen individual and institutional philanthropy in the Central and Eastern Europe region. To this end, the Association for Community Relations will continue to develop and manage INSPIRE – Initiative for Strategic Philanthropy and Intelligent Resources. More specifically, the grantee, in cooperation with other capacity building providers from Western Europe, will recruit and train 30 philanthropy development practitioners to become philanthropy advisors working directly with individual philanthropists and foundations to improve their giving practices. In addition, the grantee will facilitate networking and exchange among the program participants, explore opportunities for institutionalizing this network as an independent organization, and develop and publicize a series of learning resources on strategic philanthropy and social entrepreneurship. In the past two years, the grantee developed a comprehensive set of training materials and tools, trained 18 philanthropy advisors from eight countries, supported exchange and networking among the trainees, and trained 20 community foundations from Poland and Ukraine in providing advice on strategic philanthropy to their donors. The grantee is based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
