About this grant

The program goal is to support community- and national-level civic engagement in the promotion and protection of human and minority rights in Turkey. Established in 2007, the Hrant Dink Foundation has become an important proponent of civil society. During the grant period, the grantee will focus on strengthening the culture of dialogue, empathy, and peace in Turkey through a range of activities, including conducting and commissioning research; publishing books and reports; gathering and sharing documentation of the past; organizing summer schools and other educational activities; organizing film, music, literature, and other festivals; and providing grants and fellowships. During 2015-2017, the grantee moved into a new building, which allowed it to expand its programming and engage wider and more diverse audiences. The grantee also significantly expanded and made more accessible its library and archive and published 12 books and a variety of reports. The grantee also made progress in consolidating its work around core program areas and strengthening its management and operational capacities for larger-scale programming. The grantee is based in Istanbul.
