About this grant

The Michigan Benefits Access Initiative, a project of the Michigan Association of United Ways, was created to connect a greater number of families in Michigan to a range of public benefits that help promote household economic stability. Led by a partnership between the state of Michigan, foundations, and local nonprofit organizations, the initiative couples extensive outreach efforts with technology in order to help more families who may be eligible for benefits access them. This one-time grant will support the initiative’s technology component. When completed, the technology will fully bundle all key benefits and allow applicant/client documentation upload capability so that applications for benefits will not only be provided at human services agencies, but also at community action agencies, homeless shelters, health clinics, learning centers, and other neighborhood locations.
