About this grant

The program goal is to strengthen active civic participation in Bulgaria. The Citizen Participation Forum, an association of over 120 Bulgarian nonprofit organizations, will expand its membership and strengthen the capacity of its member organizations, create effective partnerships with other nongovernmental organization networks and public institutions, ensure participation of citizens and nonprofit organizations in decisionmaking processes on the local and national levels, and increase the knowledge and practice of effective participation among young people. The grantee has been working as an informal network since 2009 and was registered formally in October 2012. The grantee’s mission is to develop civil society in Bulgaria and strengthen citizen participation in public policymaking and decisionmaking. The grantee’s key past achievements include coordinating input from nongovernmental organizations into relevant policy and decisionmaking processes, introducing a citizen participation index, and increasing its organizational capacity. The grantee is based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
