About this grant

The program goal is to strengthen active civic participation in Bulgaria. To this end, the Citizen Participation Forum, an association of over 130 Bulgarian nonprofit organizations, will expand its membership and strengthen the capacity of its member organizations; create effective partnerships with other nongovernmental organization networks and public institutions; and ensure participation of citizens and nonprofit organizations in decisionmaking processes on the local, national, and European Union levels. The grantee has been working as an informal network since 2009 and registered formally in October 2012. The grantee’s mission is to develop civil society in Bulgaria and strengthen citizen participation in public policymaking and decisionmaking. The grantee’s key past achievements include coordinating input from nongovernmental organizations into the development of a national strategy for civil society development and advocating for a proper implementation of the partnership principle during the development of the country’s operational agreement with the European Union for the period 2014-2020.
