About this grant

The Social Justice Initiative was established in 2013 to contribute to building peace, prosperity, and stability in South Africa. Its vision is the creation and preservation of a just and fair society based on the democratic principles provided for in the country’s constitution. The grantee seeks to address the financial crisis facing the social justice sector. Over the next year, its main focus will be to increase awareness of social justice causes among wealthy South Africans and encourage them to fund programs that advance human rights and social justice. This grant will support the grantee to establish mechanisms through which philanthropists can fund social justice causes, facilitate long-term relationships between philanthropists and the projects they support, and advocate for increased funding to the social justice sector.
