About this grant

With many newspapers and other news outlets reducing their science and energy reporting, the public needs and deserves educational information on the changes taking place in the energy system. This is particularly true in Michigan, where multiple clean energy policy ideas will be under discussion in 2014. Fresh Energy, a Minnesota-based nonprofit and publisher of "Midwest Energy News", will expand its journalistic coverage of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and clean transportation stories in Michigan. With Mott support, "Midwest Energy News" will aim to generate a minimum of four pieces of original Michigan-focused reporting every month and make Michigan one of its top three states for readership.
