About this grant

This grant will support renovations to the historic Capitol Theatre in downtown Flint and its reopening as a live entertainment venue. Built in 1928, the theater is an important underutilized asset in the downtown core area that, once restored, will complement and enhance other efforts to revitalize downtown Flint and reduce urban blight. Once fully operational, the theater has the capacity to attract between 60,000 and 80,000 visitors annually. The Flint Cultural Center Corporation, the supported organization of the Flint Cultural Center Foundation, will partner with the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation to redevelop and operate the theater.
