About this grant

The National Youth Leadership Council has been the premier leader in the education service-learning area, for the past 30 years. It specializes in developing model programs, convening practitioners, conducting trainings for teachers and students, publishing research, and advancing service-learning education policies targeted at helping children grow and succeed as future leaders. Today, the grantee is a leader in helping teachers understand and embrace service-learning as a magnifying teaching methodology that provides opportunities for all students to increase academic skills and knowledge while engaging in important activities that meet genuine community needs. This grant will support the grantee in its efforts to: 1) assess the current state of practice for service-learning within the United States; 2) document the exponential impact of service-learning as a promising practice for developing employment and 21st Century skills; and 3) develop a strategy to work with the statewide afterschool networks.
