About this grant

The purpose of this initiative is to respond to the needs of nonprofits and other civic initiatives in Eurasia working to support democratic development in their countries. To this end, People in Need will establish and develop a new Center for Civil Society Innovation. The mission of the center will be to empower independent civil society representatives and organizations to address emerging challenges in their countries and communities. Through its efforts, the center will contribute to civil society in Eurasia becoming more self-reliant, resilient, and effective in increasing citizen participation in public processes and institutions. The center will work through a range of grantmaking and operational programming. During the first two years of the project, the grantee will oversee the registration of the new center; identify, hire, and build the capacity of core staff; establish and strengthen the center’s initial board; and assist with the development of the center’s medium- and long-term programmatic and operational strategies. The grantee will also carry out exploratory programming as the center is being established that will help to shape the center’s presence and create learning opportunities for ongoing program development. People in Need is based in Prague, Czech Republic.
