About this grant
This grant will support the National Association of Elementary School Principals Foundation to build the capacity of principals and afterschool leaders toward providing new enriching learning opportunities after school and over the summer months. Specifically, this project will include: 1) conducting a needs assessment to identify strategies to increase quality and support for school-based and school-linked afterschool and summer learning programs; 2) developing best practices for how principals can utilize afterschool programs to support student academic and social development; 3) creating a national network of principals and states that can share exemplary afterschool practices; 4) working with states and districts to provide technical assistance to enhance afterschool programs; and 5) developing a special issue of “Principal” magazine focused on afterschool and summer learning opportunities.
