About this grant
Over the past decade, the steady growth of many economies in Africa, averaging five percent annually, has generated optimism for the continent. However, this growth has not been distributed throughout the populations. Though rich in both fossil-based and renewable energy resources, Sub-Saharan Africa has suffered from electricity power supply shortages and poor quality of services. The World Wildlife Fund will work with its offices in China and East Africa to shift Chinese financing of energy projects to address these energy access challenges in East Africa, particularly through small-scale renewable energy projects.
