About this grant
Energy is widely acknowledged as a key tool to enhance economic growth and a country’s development. The predominant model of generation and distribution is centralized, dependent on fossil fuels, and the largest contributor to climate change. In addition, this model has failed to provide 17 percent of the world’s population with access to lighting or energy for livelihoods. To address this challenge in India, the Solar Energy Light Company Foundation has been providing electricity for 20 years. Given their years of experience, this grant will support the grantee in providing technical assistance and capacity building for social entrepreneurs from other developing countries.
