About this grant
This project will support the Instituto para o Desenvolvimento de Energias Alternativas e da Auto Sustentabilidade to evaluate and scale up programs to bring solar energy systems to remote Amazon forest communities. Two pilot programs have been established in the Tefe municipality in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. The grantee develops and implements small-scale solar electricity systems for individual and community needs and will develop a finance model to replicate successes. The target populations for these systems are isolated communities in two federal environmental conservation areas along the Solimões River in the Brazilian Amazon.
