About this grant

The Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities (formerly the Michigan Land Use Institute), headquartered in Traverse City, is working to make northwest Michigan a model of ecological and economic sustainability, particularly with respect to energy use and generation. This renewal grant will allow the grantee to deepen and focus its efforts to expand solar deployment through residential and commercial installations, particularly via its new Groundwork Shines program, and encourage participation in energy efficiency programs in the Traverse City area. The grantee will also continue to share best practices and lessons learned through a variety of means including original journalism and networking activities.
