About this grant
Citizens Campaign Fund for the Environment is one of New York State’s most respected advocates for protection of citizens’ health and the environment. They are adept at effectively organizing and mobilizing coalitions of citizens and groups to educate decision-makers and the general public on Great Lakes issues. With previous support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee educated state leaders on the need for water infrastructure upgrades, and helped develop and implement a new plan to manage water levels on Lake Ontario. The grantee has led efforts to address emerging contaminants in water, including plastic pollution and pharmaceuticals. With this renewal grant, the grantee will reconvene a Drinking Water Coalition, continue to educate on the need for water infrastructure upgrades, and address emerging threats such as plastic and pharmaceutical pollution. The grantee will also use this support from the Foundation to expand its capacity to connect with and educate citizens and coalitions.
