About this grant
The Alliance for Water Efficiency, a nonprofit organization based in Chicago, promotes the efficient and sustainable use of water in North America. In particular, the grantee seeks to reduce the amount of water lost through municipal water supply systems. Reducing leaks can help maintain water levels for lakes, rivers, and aquifers while also lowering expenses for communities. With Mott support, the grantee will conduct two pilot projects with Great Lakes-based water utilities to show the practical application and benefits of using new software tools to: 1) assess water supply systems; and 2) develop strategies for reducing leaks. The grantee will also conduct workshops and meetings to educate water suppliers, decisionmakers, and other stakeholders about how best to apply these new tools to improve water efficiencies within municipal systems.
